Our Story
Apnea began as an annual visual arts event made by a collective on the island of Symi, in the Dodecanese. From the beginning, our vision has been to create a living, breathing cultural organism—one that constantly evolves while promoting contemporary artistic creation and technology. Our exhibitions are open to all artistic practices: painting, sculpture, engraving, photography, installation, coding-based art, 3D art, video art, performance, lectures, and more. We embrace experimentation and invite artists and audiences to connect in idyllic, immersive environments.
As Apnea grew, so did our mission.
Today, Apnea has evolved into a collective that brings art, education, and technology to remote islands and underrepresented communities across Greece & Athens—including Symi, Anafi, Mytilini, and beyond. We now work at the intersection of artistic practice, community building, and digital innovation.
